Job Responsibilities
The Private Chef is responsible for providing exceptional, customized culinary services in a luxury beachfront residence, with a strong emphasis on health-conscious, seasonal, and locally sourced cuisine. The chef will plan, prepare, and serve daily meals tailored to the family’s preferences, dietary needs, and lifestyle, ranging from casual beachside lunches to elegant multi-course dinners. This role includes creating weekly menus, sourcing the finest ingredients—often from specialty or organic purveyors—and ensuring all meals meet the highest standards of taste, presentation, and nutrition. The chef must be skilled in a variety of cuisines and cooking techniques and be comfortable adjusting menus to accommodate guests, allergies, or specific requests.
In addition to cooking, the Private Chef manages all aspects of kitchen operations, including inventory, procurement, food safety, and sanitation. They are responsible for maintaining a spotless, organized kitchen at all times and may be required to coordinate with household staff or event planners for entertaining and special occasions. The chef must be discreet, professional, and flexible, often adapting to the family's changing schedule, travel plans, or dietary protocols. Familiarity with the unique storage, humidity, and freshness challenges of coastal environments is an asset. The ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and anticipate the culinary needs of a high-expectation household is essential to success in this role.
Qualifications & Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience as a private chef in high-net-worth households or luxury hospitality environments, with a strong background in preparing refined, health-conscious cuisine. Formal culinary training from an accredited institution is preferred, along with expertise in a wide range of cooking styles and dietary approaches, including gluten-free, organic, plant-based, paleo, or Mediterranean. The chef must demonstrate exceptional menu planning, plating, and food presentation skills, as well as a deep understanding of nutrition, ingredient sourcing, and food safety protocols. Experience managing all aspects of kitchen operations—including budgeting, inventory control, vendor relationships, and maintaining impeccable cleanliness—is essential.
The candidate should be highly organized, discreet, and capable of adapting to the dynamic needs and schedules of a luxury household, including availability for weekends, holidays, and travel if required. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other household staff or event teams are key. Familiarity with the specific challenges of cooking and storing food in a beachfront environment, including maintaining ingredient freshness in humid conditions, is highly desirable. A valid driver’s license, current food handler certifications, and excellent references are required.
