Job Responsibilities

The Estate Nanny is responsible for providing exceptional, full-time childcare in a high net-worth household, with a focus on safety, developmental support, and discretion. The nanny will deliver attentive and nurturing care tailored to each child’s age, personality, and needs, fostering emotional well-being, academic growth, and proper etiquette. Responsibilities include managing the children’s daily routines—from morning wake-up and school preparation to meals, activities, and bedtime—while maintaining a consistent, structured environment. The nanny is expected to engage the children in enriching activities such as reading, educational play, creative arts, and outdoor exploration, and to support schoolwork and coordinate with tutors or educators when necessary.

This role involves full schedule coordination, including managing calendars for school, lessons, playdates, medical appointments, and travel, and communicating clearly with parents, household staff, and assistants. The nanny will prepare nutritious, child-friendly meals, manage the children’s wardrobes, and keep all children’s areas clean and organized. Travel, both domestic and international, is often required, and the nanny must be able to maintain consistent care routines across different locations and time zones, often acting in a proxy-parenting role during travel or parental absence.

The Estate Nanny must work in close collaboration with other household staff and maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion at all times. Confidentiality is paramount, both within and outside the home. A strong understanding of safety procedures is required, along with current certification in First Aid and CPR. Flexibility is essential, as the role may require availability during evenings, weekends, holidays, or overnight stays. Above all, the Estate Nanny must embody trustworthiness, warmth, and a calm presence while upholding the family’s values and lifestyle standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

The ideal candidate for the Estate Nanny position will possess a minimum of 5 to 10 years of professional nanny experience, preferably in high net-worth or fully staffed households, and demonstrate a strong background in child development, early childhood education, or a related field. A degree or certification in education, child psychology, or a similar discipline is highly desirable. The candidate must be CPR and First Aid certified, with a solid understanding of safety protocols and emergency procedures. They should have a proven track record of managing complex family schedules, supporting academic and extracurricular activities, and working collaboratively with parents, tutors, and other household staff. A high level of emotional intelligence, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential.

The Estate Nanny must exhibit exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and maintain absolute discretion and confidentiality at all times. A professional appearance, good manners, and the ability to serve as a role model for children are required. The candidate must be flexible with scheduling, including availability for evenings, weekends, travel, and overnight stays as needed. Experience traveling with families and managing children in varied environments, including hotels, yachts, and private jets, is a plus. Strong organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to anticipate needs are critical in this role. A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and the legal ability to work in the country of employment are required. Fluency in a second language, knowledge of etiquette, or specialized training (such as Montessori or RIE) are considered valuable assets.
