Job Responsibilities
The Beach Estate Houseman is responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness, upkeep, and readiness of both interior and exterior areas of the estate, with a strong emphasis on maintaining the property's beachside features. Daily responsibilities include supporting housekeeping staff with heavy lifting, moving furniture, restocking supplies, and handling laundry when needed. The Houseman assists with setting up and breaking down outdoor spaces, including beach lounges, umbrellas, and recreational areas, ensuring they are clean, organized, and guest-ready at all times. He performs light maintenance tasks, reports any damage or safety concerns, and works closely with the estate manager and other household staff to support special events or guest needs. The role also involves regular cleaning of outdoor furniture, pathways, windows, and entryways, as well as helping maintain pool and beach equipment. A proactive, discreet, and service-oriented approach is essential, as the Houseman may interact with residents and guests, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction while respecting their privacy. Flexibility, physical stamina, and attention to detail are critical to success in this position.
Qualifications & Requirements
A qualified Beach Estate Houseman should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with prior experience in a luxury residential or hospitality setting strongly preferred. The ideal candidate must demonstrate physical stamina and the ability to perform hands-on tasks both indoors and outdoors in a coastal environment, including lifting, bending, and prolonged periods of standing or walking. Familiarity with the care and maintenance of high-end furnishings, beach equipment, and outdoor living areas is essential. Basic handyman skills, such as light repairs and troubleshooting household issues, are highly desirable. The candidate must be detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of working independently while also collaborating effectively with household staff. Strong communication skills, a professional appearance, and a respectful, discreet demeanor are necessary, especially when interacting with residents and guests. A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and the flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying schedules are also important. Experience operating cleaning equipment, following safety protocols, and adhering to high service standards will further support success in this role.
